How many of you are going to start a blog or already started a blog but yet are confused on how to get it really going? I like to share what you should focus on the first 90 days of your blogging experience. Let’s make your blogging experience a great one….
You probably been told that starting a blog would benefit you in many different ways. From branding yourself well to growing a email list, it would be the facade of what people first read about you outside of social media.
As more people become bloggers each and every year, there has been confusion on how to really get their blogs going. Some been told to blog everyday to get traffic, while others been told to focus mainly on SEO for good results.
Even though these are great ideas, but in reality, if you’re a newbie you’re not going to have too much to say and SEO may go over your head, especially if you’re not that technical.
There is a lot of information on blogging, and this can have you go in every different direction which you’ll probably end up not going anywhere. What you need is a smooth transition into blogging because when it comes down to it, you either learn to like it or you don’t.
Here are some of the questions that popped into my head when I very first got started.
Maybe you can relate….
- What will I write about?
- What if no one reads my posts?
- How will I get traffic and leads?
- How will I promote my blog?
- Do I really have to write everyday?
- What if I run out of ideas?
- How will I find this thing called a target market?
- Can I really make money through blogging
- How do I start?
Building up momentum your first 90 Days is critical. Once you get into the flow of things, this will create a good habit of you maintaining your blog. Here is a lot of things I recommend that newbies should follow so they can get a good start…..
What’s The Purpose Of Your Blog?
You want to figure out what topics you’re going to focus on. You want to figure out what do you want to get out of your blog and more importantly, what do you want your readers to get out of your blog.
Are you going to talk about Online Marketing only?
Are you going to just talk about Prospecting?
Are you going to talk about Personal Development?
Are you going to focus on growing a Home Business?
Is it going to be a variation of the 4?
Depending of the purpose of your blog is going to bring the type of readers to it. One great way of giving your readers a preview is to have something similar like a “Table Of Contents” or a “Summary” of what your blog is going be about. You can check mines out if you click on the tab that says Get Free Updates at the top of my blog.
How Often Should You Write?
There are many opinions about this. A lot of people say that you should write everyday to get indexed by search engines while others say it doesn’t matter.
Personally I believe that as long as you promote your blog, you’re going to get traffic and readers either way it goes. But I do suggest if you’re a novice at this, you should write once a week the first month, twice a week the second month, and 3 times a week the third month.
Well it gives you a smooth transition into the blogging, but this is from personal experience. The main thing is that you promote your blog as much as you can.
Write On Just One Or Two Topics
Unless you’re already an expert, as a newbie, you’re not going to know too much until you get a lot of experience. So the best thing to do is write on one or two topics your pretty familiar with. For instance: You may know a lot about facebook, so you may want to only focus on facebook for now. You can write topics on:
Setting Up A Facebook Profile
The Importance Of Setting Up A Facebook Profile
The Benefits Of Joining Blogging Groups
The Difference Between A Group And A Page
How To Meet New People On Facebook
How To Set Up A Facebook Ad
What Are The New Facebook Features
Find Five Bloggers You Really Like
This is very critical, especially if you want to get a lot of traffic and readers. This is also a great way to engage with other people that’s been doing it longer than you have and also get some great tips on how to optimize your blog.
One important that I do suggest is to look at their ALEXA Rating. If you don’t know, the alexa is an estimate of how much traffic that blog site is getting. Each site is given a rating just about everyday. The best thing to do is find a blog that’s getting under 100,000 both Globally and Locally. To find out this information, you would go to http://www.alexa.com, put in their website address and it will give you their rating.
This is a great way to get you a jump start. You always want to leave a comment on these sites which in turn gives you a backlink. The more comments you leave, the more you’ll get noticed by these bloggers and for the most part, they’ll do the same in return.
You can find great bloggers if you do a google search, social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn), Topsy (http://www.topsy.com), or Triberr (Http://www.triberr.com).
Now It’s Your Turn!
