It’s a scam! This is what’s in the minds of the majority of people when you present them with home business opportunities. But here’s the question: Why do they say these things? Well there are a couple of reasons and I like to talk about them in the following blog post….
“Transforming a brand into a socially responsible leader doesn’t happen overnight by simply writing new marketing and advertising strategies. It takes effort to identify a vision that your customers will find credible and aligned with their values.” ~ Simon Mainwaring
Have you heard this before: People aren’t turned off by network marketing, they’re turned off by network marketers. Well this saying can not only apply to network marketing but also other home business opportunities.
This can be a hard one to swallow, especially if you’ve had a home business for a while and had little to no results. We love to point the finger at our prospects, but we don’t like to look at those 3 fingers pointing back at us.
We can promote, promote, promote, but if we ourselves aren’t aligned with our prospects and leads, then the marketing will go out the window. Our focus should be on our audience. We want to focus on their wants and needs, and once we know this information, then we can see if our offer will be a match for them.
Usually no NLP, slight of hand techniques will get an uninterested prospect or lead to buy anything from you. So it’s best to stop the convincing and focusing more on the aligning to find the right pieces of the puzzle to match so you can have the full picture.
So why look for ways to figure out what to say to your prospects? If you want to figure anything out, figure out what market you should focus on that will be most interested in what you have.
This brings us to the next point.
A reputation is how others see you, so you definitely want to build a good reputation. From what I’ve seen so far, and I have also made mistakes up the yin yang, there are certain that a lot of marketers do to turn off people they prospects. So lets see what some of these reasons are so that we can avoid them.
We all heard that people don’t like to be sold to. So you know that hounding people over and over won’t do you any justice. So now you ask, so how do you sell anything to your prospects and lead. Simple, focus on your connection with them more so than trying to make money from them. The stronger your connection, the easier it will be to sell anything.
Bad Past Experiences
A lot of people that I’ve talk to had some bad experiences when marketers and salespeople. So as a result they don’t want to be associated with these two groups of people, although they are each time they buy something from someone 😉
But in this case, you definitely want to get them to open up. Find out what they’re experiences are. Have they come across many pushy marketers? Have they gotten many objections? Do they really want to start a home business but yet don’t want to come across as a pushy salesperson? What have they bought and why did they buy it from a particular store or salesperson?
We’ve seen many advertisements and people that made some promises which they didn’t keep. All to get you in their list and buy something from them. Sad, just sad! On top of that, they focus how they made money within a short period of time and how you can do the same.
Now don’t get me wrong, it is possible to make money in a short time, but you definitely don’t want to over exaggerate or even skip the part that you actually have to do some type of income producing activities. You want to be real with people and let them make the decision for themselves. Don’t get their hopes up by lying and over exaggerating of what can happen for them in a short time. Which brings us to the next point.
I have to shake my head when a lot of people show bogus statistics online or offline. That’s pretty desperate if you ask me and as you know, desperation is a big turn off to a lot of people. Again, lets be real with the statistics. Most people want to see how you started off, the struggles you went through in order to get great stats on your marketing. Instead give them some projected gratification on what they need to do, and be real about the highs and lows of growing a business from home.
Don’t Take Personal Responsibility
Now you can apply this point on both ends. The prospect/leads and yourself. Each individual is responsible for their own success. Pointing the finger and putting your success on others isn’t going to get you no where. Why would you give power to someone for your own success in the first place?
Employee Mentality (Hard Work vs. Working Intelligently)
Again, this is for both parties. A lot of people still have that employee mentality. They would rather do Routine Hard Work and get a paycheck every week versus doing smart leveraged work to make a fortune even if they start out making a menial amount of money at first.
Entrepreneurs figure out a way to duplicate their efforts so that they don’t have to work as hard. You know this goes with the saying “The hardest working people are the laziest”. Why? Because they don’t like to think. They want the thinking done for them, so they can just follow a plan that someone else made up for them. So the bottom line is, the less you have to think, the less money you make. The more you think for yourselves, the more money you make.
