Sometimes you have to ask yourself if you’re really making an effort to help people or are you trying to just make money off of people? We are told that we are in the business of people, but yet a lot of us are more concerned about money. Let’s see how we can put ourselves in check when we tell ourselves we’re helping people but yet we’re not…
You know, sometimes we just have to be honest with ourselves before we waste our precious time. How many of you told someone that you’re out there to help that but yet you know that it really wasn’t your intention?
Although I hate to admit it, but I was one of these people. Especially at the beginning of my home business venture.
Did it work out?
At times yes, but it didn’t work out to it’s full potential.
Well people was just not feeling the help, even though I threw it out there. You see people in general can see right through you. You need to come correct from the beginning so that it wouldn’t matter too much to you where they take your offer or not.
Don’t get me wrong, I had good intentions. I actually wanted to help people, but it wasn’t my main focus. Being a money making machine was my main priority, but it didn’t work out the way I wanted.
But that has changed now. It all sinked in.
How so? Well for me, I can remember some of the people that I grew up with that didn’t have a lot. From that they developed the full fledge lack mindset that so many of us had, and although they want to get out of their situation, they don’t have the belief.
This is sad to see because from being in the industry, I see so many options as well as the potential in them. But yet, they reject those options and don’t have the belief in themselves. So I had to set the example so that they can see it’s definitely possible.
When you approach people, you want to be really aligned with yourself. Meaning, you want to be 100% connected to why you’re doing this from the emotional stand point of view. At the same time, you want to be open to whatever answers your leads and prospect gives you without giving a negative reaction. This negative reaction will definitely hurt you in the long run.
So I came up with 7 questions you can ask yourself during your journey of growing your home based business. Let’s check them out:
Do I get mad when people don’t look at my presentations?
Out of the millions of people you can show your presentation to, why would you get mad at that one person who doesn’t look at it. Why would you limit yourself?
It doesn’t matter whether they look at it or not. You only want to help those that are willing to help themselves. So you want to qualify those that are really serious about starting a home business and disqualify those that aren’t.
Getting mad at someone just because they didn’t look at your presentation will indicate to them that you’re not really concern with them and their success. You’re only concern is to make money off of them. So check yourself before you contact them.
Do I try to convince people who really don’t have the money to invest?
There are times when people have the money but are scared to invest, and there are times when people actually don’t have the money to invest. So why try to convince them to invest in your offer?
Instead, move on! Do not waste your time and especially do not waste their time. If they can afford it at a later date, then great! Be open to this! Don’t convince them if they don’t have the money at the moment in time.
If anything ask great questions like “What is holding you back from investing today?” or “if there was another program that is within your price range, would you be interested?” It would be more helpful to them if you can give them more options or showing them your patience.
Am I irritating my friends and family?
Yes, we all want to help our friends and family, but if they’re really not interested in what you’re doing, then let them be.
They may make fun of you, and you may feel that it’s your obligation to convince them that what you’re doing is legit. If they don’t have no regards and belief in what you’re doing, then why try to convince.
You’re limiting yourself from the rest of the world. Especially for the fact that we have the internet now. So don’t convince, but become a student of the industry. Especially in marketing. When you’re educating yourself, you become more valuable, and when people see how valuable you are, that’s when the money start coming in!
Do I get infuriated when people talk down about the home business industry?
It doesn’t matter what your friends, family, peers or whoever else says, all that matters is what you believe. So why get infuriated when that bad talk what you do?
Whenever you approach someone and they say it’s a scam, talking bad about it, then don’t get mad. If you know that it works, or if you believe that it works, then there’s no room to try to convince them. Why try to convince someone that’s not really using a home business as a tool to progress?
If they really believe, then the conversation would be different. They would me more prone in talking about the benefits and the strategies used to grow one versus bad mouthing it.
You want to be more nonchalant about it and either ask them why they have this belief or just change the subject altogether.
Am I really concern with the other person’s success?
I’ve been approach many of times and it’s got to the point that I’m just upfront with them. If someone ask me, without building any rapport, if I can do them a favor and check out their video get my opinion, I would ask them if they’re more concern with me or just making money off of me?
I bet many of you have been approached like this, or maybe you’ve done this approach many of times. I know I have, and you know what? It really doesn’t work. Why? because like I said before, I was more focused on being a money maker than the individual.
Find out other’s people’s why and their current concerns first. Once you get align with yourself, try to align yourself with the other person. Once you do, take the lead.
Am I more focus on people looking at my presentation than getting to know them?
Once again, don’t focus so much on your presentation. If you’re an entrepreneur, you’re in the business of people. Find out more about people. You can find out if they would be interested in your presentation from the get go.
You would not be helping them or yourself if they’re not interested at all. Even if they were to get involved, more than likely they will not last too long.
So build those relationships first. They may recommend people that would be more interested in your offers.
Do I really want to help other home business entrepreneurs?
Some of us have this “Every man for himself” mentality, but does this really work? Not really. If you’re a serious blogger, you know what I mean!
You want to have the mindset of “You help yourself by helping others”.. this is definitely the law of reciprocity. Usually with serious entrepreneurs, you’ll find that they’re leveraging off of each other to build their businesses.
Once you have this mindset, and target these types of entrepreneurs, then you’re home free! All you’ll have to do is anticipate the results you want to come in!
Now It’s Your Turn!
