Many people believe that monetizing your blog makes you look “salesy”. Is this your mindset if you’re doing online marketing? Or do you look at it as another stream of income? Let’s take a look at why monetizing your blog isn’t all that bad….
Are you afraid to appear to be too “salesy”?
Do you get this idea from other people within the home business industry or is it something you grew up thinking? I know many of us do not want to project the image of the “fast talking, sleazy salesman” who’s primary motive is to make money off of anyone.
But at the same time, I know many of us, deep down inside want to be compensated for the hard work we do. Especially when using your own personal blog.
I myself just started using Google Adsense about 4 months ago, and it’s a great way for me to create an additional income. But there are others who are afraid to even go this far. They just want to focus on their niche and that’s it.
Don’t get me wrong, if focusing on just your niche is what you want to do, then by all means you have my respect. But I just believe that using the excuse of being too “salesy” is a bad one. I’m all about using the 80/20 rule by promoting value 80 percent of the time and your offer 20 percent of the time. As far as blogging is concerned, i’m also about making yourself a money magnet by creating multiple streams of income too.
Why Monetizing Your Blog Can Benefit You
If you have a home business, you probably heard the old cliche “If you want to find your purpose, figure out what you’re passionate about.” Many of us have a passion for giving valuable information whether it be through writing blog posts or making videos. There’s something about it that really wakes us up and drives us.
So wouldn’t it make since that if you enjoy blogging, then why not monetize your blog? If it’s something you just programmed yourself to do everyday, every other day, every week, or once a month, why not use it to make money? It’s another way for you to build another stream of income for something you enjoy. I have to keep emphasizing this.
The biggest mistake that most people do with a home business is that they get involved in something they have the least interest in. They only do it because it’s the right thing to do in order to get ahead instead of finding something that really resonates with them. If you’re trying to sell and promote, then you’ll find that you’ll have a difficult time getting the results you want. Why? Because you will not be able to carry those great feelings about your offers over to your prospects. If they can’t feel you, then they’re not going to feel the offer and won’t invest.
But when your readers see’s the consistency of you blogging, and the excitement you bring to each post, then you’ll build a following, which as a result, will lead to sales. This is why I believe as you build your home businesses while you’re using blogging to brand yourself, it would wise to also build an extra income by monetizing your blog.
Do you have a lack mentality when it comes to money? Many people who don’t want to appear too salesy usually don’t sell anything at all. Frustration creeps in while they believe they’re trying to be moral and do things right, and next thing you know, they quit.
Another question you may want to ask yourself is are you afraid to appear greedy? This is part of that lack mentality, and from what I’ve seen what usually happens is that you will end up with people that have the same mentality. They’re so cautious to the point that their miserable. They’re not making any money at all and again they convince themselves that they’re doing something right.
What’s amazing is that they so focus on staying away from greed that they start attracting people who are actually greedy. This is one reason why people stay stagnant not only in business, but in life as well.
Now if you’re actually helping people to make money with the value you give to them, and you’re making money through your blog by your efforts, wouldn’t this be a win/win situation? It doesn’t matter if they use your value or not, at least you’re putting the value out there to help them help themselves. This definitely is the mindset that successful people have. So why not embed this in yourself if monetizing your blog resonates with you?
