One of the worst things as a marketer is when other marketers try to convince you that they’re opportunity is better. When this happens there are a couple of ways to flip the script on them. Let’s check out to see how you can turn things around…
“A good leader can engage in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer, and thus emerge stronger. You don’t have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial, and uninformed.” ~ Nelson Mandela
One of the most irksome experiences as a marketer is when other marketers try to convince you that your company isn’t as great as theirs. Sometimes it feels like you’re just a piece of meat as soon as you log on to your account on social media sites.
Does anyone know about building rapport with others on social media?
You probably asked yourself this hundreds of times, but you notice that maybe 5% or under actually does it. At least in my experience.
Now some of us will “snap” on a marketer relentlessly while other of us will just ignore them. But are these tactics a good thing or bad thing?
Well that depends on what you really want to come out of it?
But I tell you this, most veteran entrepreneurs will look at this as an opportunity. This is an opportunity to actually help someone that sounds like they’re desperate. You know how it feels to just start a home business and want to expose everybody and sell by any means necessary?
Well if you don’t, I know how it feels, and when I first started I knew I needed some advice. Well I needed a lot of advice to be honest. I was like a lost sheep.
But one thing I found out is how to turn the tables.
I knew that I was struggling with my approach, and if i’m struggling I know most other marketers couldn’t be doing any better with the same approach.
There’s a lot of people that don’t like to use the words “sales”, “selling”, or “sell” but let’s be honest: If you want to make money from your business, it’s best to get comfortable with these words. When you get into the vibe and start to becoming a master of asking great, empowering questions, then you are coming full circle to become a great marketer/salesperson.
As marketers you want to practicing asking good, indirect attractive questions that’s going to pique the interest of your niche market. The more you practice the better you get. The following simple questions actually work quite well when marketers are hounding you. Let’s take a gander at them:
How Is Your Approach Working For You?
Many marketers skip the rapport building and go straight into asking you to look at their opportunities. I use this question after I tell these marketers that I’m not really interested into looking into other opportunities. When you ask this question either they’ll spill the beans or give you a positive answer that they’re not confident in, but they’re all open ears for answers.
How Do People Usually Respond To You?
These marketers are looking for better ways to approach people. If they’re always getting “dissed” by people, they will be more than happy to get some information on how to get better responses from people. This will be an opportunity to supply those answers.
Many People Approach Me The Same Way, With The Same Opportunity. So What Makes You Different From The Rest?
This question may be a little harsher, but it’s helps for them to look harder at themselves and how they market. You get them to think how to come unique and more transparent more so than the stereotypical “salesperson” approach. Tweaking their approach in this manner a bit may help them become a better salesperson.
What Strategies Are You Using And How Are They Working Out For You?
From my experience, a lot of people are just using the old expose 3 people a day approach. This works up to an extent. I’ve used it, I brought some people into my opportunity, but my team didn’t last. Some people may get lucky, but usually 99% of the time it doesn’t happen. You definitely want to become a student of marketing and this gives you the opportunity to share some great information with them.
How Is Your Personal Brand Attracting People?
Surprising a lot of marketers don’t know what personal branding is and how it can benefit them. It took me a while to actually get it, but I thought I was the only one LOL. If they’re not attracting people, this would be a great opportunity to point them in the right direction!
Now It’s Your Turn!
I just shared with you some questions on how to turn the tables when marketers approach and try to convince you that their opportunity is better. What are some ways you turn the table on them? How has it worked for you? Are there any more questions you like to add to this list? Please share your comments below and share this post with your friends! I look forward to reading them!
