Many of us have a hard time choosing a topic for our next blog post. I sometimes draw a blank and I know many of you have experienced the same thing. When this happen there are a couple of things you want to consider when choosing your next post topic as well as using some resources.
Have you ever became so exciting about a subject that none of your peers could shut you up about it? It’s funny how animated some of us can get and have no shame about it.
Now if you blog like me, sometimes it can be a real challenge coming up with a good topic. There are a plethora to choose from and yet once we choose a topic we can sometimes go blank on what to say. We start a sentence and waste time thinking, and thinking, not getting nowhere.
But you know what works?
Already having a framework of how you want to organize your thoughts on your posts. With each topic that you choose, you already want to have a good idea of how you want to sequentially write it and at the same time personalizing it compelling your readers for more of your material.
How Are You Going To Make Your Posts Shine?
The first thing you want to figure out is what you’re interested in and the next thing you want to figure out is who’s reading your posts to begin with. If you’re in groups or some other blogging community, you want to know who’s trying to interact with you. Once you fuse the answers to these questions you have the answers to what would be the right topics. Here are a few tips to consider…
Maintain Reader Engagement – Focus on maintaining the topics that’s not only going to keep you interested but also your readers. If you want to have repeat traffic, stick with the topics that’s going to keep them coming back. If you’re readers are interested in only basketball, and you write your next 5 posts about basketball then turn around and write a post about football, do you think they’re going to come back?
Maintain Self Engagement – This goes back to being excited about different subjects. Why would you want to write about something that you’re not interested in yourself? If you want to keep the pizzazz and engagement within your blog posts going, stay with topics that interest you. Usually when you’re not really interested in certain topics you draw a blank and your posts come out pretty dry and boring.
Be Entertaining And Valuable – Give your next post some personality with a lesson to be learned. You don’t have to be the next Chris Rock, but show that you have a humorous side as well. If you can at least make your readers chuckle with the value you give, they’re more likely to remember the lesson.
Sometimes it can be a challenge to figure out the right topics for you and your audience. This is why it’s so important to target the right resources so that you can get some good ideas of what to write. Here are a few resources I having been using….
Books – There are some great books out there when it comes to what you’re trying to accomplish. It’s a wonder of how many posts I’ve written based on the books that I have read. There are actually some books that I haven’t even finish but yet I’ve gotten 5 topics that I could write a post about.
Blog Posts – When you target a specific niche, you will definitely stumble upon idea after idea to write your next topics. It’s amazing all a lot of people can talk about the same subject from different angles. They either add on to the post or take away from the post and make these ideas their own on their next topics.
Commenting – Have you ever just get all hyped up about a certain topic that your comment tended to be longer than you planned on being? The funny thing is that you feel like you said to much and have to end it early although you had much more to say.. Well why not put it in your next blog post? If the blogging community is that strong, I’m sure the other commenters will check your post out.
Conversations – You ever had conversations with your friends and either you or them go on a rant about a certain subject? It’s funny how you can get a couple blog posts from it. So what do you do? A light bulb pops up in your head and you text yourself the topics. Or is that just me? J
