Before becoming financially successful, have you ever thought about promoting your current lifestyle? You may think there are no advantages to it, but I beg to differ. Let’s see how you can benefit from talking about the current life you are living….
“As kids we didn’t complain about being poor; we talked about how rich we were going to be and made moves to get the lifestyle we aspired to by any means we could. And as soon as we had a little money, we were eager to show it.” ~ Jay-Z
When I think of blogging and social media, I think of having an open diary. These are places where you can hang out with people where you don’t have to physically be there. I guess Alexander Graham Bell had this idea in mind when he invented the telephone.
Now before I go any further, I do have to admit. I’m more social on blogging than I am on social media sites like facebook. Why? It’s just a preference of mine and I believe I get as much interaction as I would do on social media.
Now, if you’re in network marketing, you’ve been taught the main thing you should be promoting is not the product of your company or the opportunity. It’s the lifestyle that comes along with it. Many people are unsure that it’s even possible to even achieve a lifestyle of the rich and famous.
There is one problem that I have with some people on social media…
People will over-exaggerate and promote a “pop culture” lifestyle that they’re not even living. There’s nothing wrong with promoting what’s possible, but if you’re not living it, why would you even put up a front like that?
If you’re one that does that, what if you start recruiting people? Then what are you going to tell them when they ask you how you achieve all the success you’ve gotten? Are you going to give them some bogus information that’s going to give them good enough reason to jump ship?
This is just one way for you to have low retention when it comes to growing your team. So why mislead people?
The Other Side Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
When you see leaders in person, on webinars, or listening to calls, we have this big perception about them. Almost as if they’re comparable to the gods and goddesses in Greek Mythology.
But when you actually have a good talk to them, you find out that they’re just regular people like the rest of us.
As a kid growing up in the United States, I can remember hear about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. My parents talk about him and we learned about him in school. I thought he was this perfect human being that had this power over people, which in a sense he did.
But I saw a different side of him. I remember back in the 1980s I watched this documentary special called “Eyes On The Prize” on PBS. It was about the civil rights movement and I went on for a week.
In there I saw Dr. Martin King Jr. in a different light. He seemed more human to me, almost like one of my neighbors. With this different perception of who he was, I was more drawn to him more so as a regular individual. Outside the civil rights movement, he was like everyone else.
This special promoted who he was everyday and what he did as he was leading the Civil Rights Movement. Have you ever experienced this with different famous historical figures?
When it comes to building relationships with others, why not talk about and promote your lifestyle, meaning what you do everyday outside of your home business.
I usually do this with my email list. I like to talk about what I did for the weekend, holidays, and other special occasions. And you know what’s funny?
They can actually relate and they respond!
I see very few people do this on social media. But the very few I’ve seen so far usually have a nice following. I guess you can say It goes back to the cliché people do business with people, not companies or products.
If you can see people just living their daily lives, would you be more prone to connect with them, versus someone who’s always splurging money, nice cars and big homes?
I think for the most people, we all would. We relate quite well with people who are just being people. This common sense, but the majority of people don’t put this into action. So why not start now!
Now it’s Your Turn!
