When it comes to branding yourself on a blog, you want to figure out how to keep your readers interested and coming back for more. When you get your readers to engage with you and other comments, then you are successful bound when it comes to blogging. But how can you do this? Let’s take a look….
“In motivating people, you’ve got to engage their minds and their hearts. I motivate people, I hope, by example – and perhaps by excitement, by having productive ideas to make others feel involved.” ~ Rupert Murdoch
What do you think is the best way to engage your readers?
Well the one thing you want to know is who your readers are. You want to be able to get their motors run on touchy subjects. You want to figure out why they want to read your blog posts.
What really makes them tick?
As you write your blog posts, you’ll notice a pattern from your niche market. You notice this from how many responses for each blog post and what specifically do they respond too. This is all part of marketing, trying to figure out the behavior patterns of your target market.
So have you notice those patterns and responses towards your topics? If you’ve been blogging for a while, I like for you to take a look back at your previous posts and notice a trend. What blog posts have they been responding to and how did they respond to each of your topics.
Have you taken a look at other blogs in your niche as well? What topics do their readers respond to the most? What niche are they in? Do they get more people within their niche, or are there more people outside of it?
Just from reading different blog posts as well as writing, I notice that a lot of readers respond to certain kinds of topics. Especially for the fact that I love reading these type topics. They enable me to reach into my intelligence and bring it forth for other people to look at my perspectives and also they keep me in check on what to do to just become better.
In the following list, in my opinion, these are the actions you should do to really get your readers going:
Get Your Readers To Ponder
The best way to get your readers to ponder is to ask a question within the title of the post or within the first sentence of the post. When I say ponder, ask a question that they never really thought of, or maybe a question a lot of other bloggers are afraid to ask.
Maybe you want to start with your perception and have them add their take on it. I’m actually reading a book called “Chariots Of The Gods” by Erik Von Daniken. Some of you may have heard of it, but basically it talks about the theory of ancient man being visited by Aliens. This topic may be off the wall, but it caught my interest just for all the mysteries of the past. It has how were the pyramids build if the ancient people had primitive tools, or how did some ancient cultures know about the solar system or even the stars that’s light years away that couldn’t be seen by the naked eye until recently. From these types of question I added on my perceptions and analysis’.
If you can ask these types of questions for different strategies or businesses, then you’ll definitely will get a network of discussion going. You never know, it may go viral within your niche.
Get Your Readers Opinions
I’ve seen with other bloggers that they’ll ask their readers their opinion about certain strategies and tools. You would be amazed at the response rate you can get just from this. When it comes to home business, people love to show their support. If you been blogging and commenting on other blogs for a long time, you’d be amazed at how many friends you have just within your community!
Talk About A Controversial Topic
People love controversy. I can remember starting an Online Marketing vs. Offline Marketing controversy, and that really took off for days and weeks. People love putting their two cents in when it comes to topics like this. There are so many hot topics like SEO vs. Valuable Content, Google Plus vs. Facebook, and so on and so forth.
You want to be careful with controversy because some people can carry it too far. You want to make sure that both parties can agree to disagree and emphasize that each person has the right to their own opinion. On a controversial topic both parties can learn about both sides of the coin and maybe come to a beneficial conclusion.
Share A Story They Can Relate To
One common denominator that we all have is that we all have similar stories as far as home business. We either had friends that laughed at us, tried to use the 3 foot rule when we first started, put fliers on peoples car, try to sell people we just met on facebook, and so on and so forth.
We went through some of the same emotions like frustration, fear of rejection, loneliness, and so forth. Just from all of this, we can add to our stories. We could relate to other people with a home business that are going through the same thing. That’s what makes us human and brings us closer together.
Create A Checklist For Readers To Make Sure They’re On Point
Although there is really no right or wrong way to grow your business, you want to make sure there is some type of procedure to follow so that you can get the best results. Having a checklist for your readers to go through really helps them a lot and can call for discussion. They may agree, disagree, subtract or add on to the list.
These types of blog posts really helped me out in the long run. I’ve added and uninstalled plugins that either were a benefit my blog or didn’t help to optimize it. I’ve changed the way I’ve called leads and have revamped my marketing many times. Either way it goes, I’ve followed some type of blueprint that someone posted that really helped get me closer to my goals.
