When it comes to writing good How To posts, you definitely want to really get your readers’ attention. Connection is the key and then you follow through with the how to’s. In the following post I share tips on how you can write engaging How To Content…
“A good leader can engage in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer, and thus emerge stronger. You don’t have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial, and uninformed.” ~ Nelson Mandela
One of the most attractive types of posts that you’ll write in your blogging career are the “How To” posts. We as bloggers and entrepreneurs are always looking for ways to get better results in the most convenient ways for us.
Knowing yourself and what you want is also actually knowing what your audience wants. That’s the connection you want to focus on. Your readers are going to be attracted to you because there’s a “likeness” that brings them to your blog.
You and your readers are probably going through the same struggles, have similar goals, read similar blogs, etc. and so forth. This is where the synergy really hits and take off for all of you.
When it comes to writing those “How To” posts, you definitely do not want to sound like a robot or a broken record. You want to be able to keep that strong engaging, synergetic connection going without skipping a beat. So How do you do this?
If you really want to draw attention, then you need to develop a strong connection with your audience as I mentioned. The following 6 tips will get you on the get go so you can keep your readers engaged for what your tips are for:
Talk About Your Own Struggles For Starters
If you’re trying to reach that successful point, you most likely experienced a lot of failure, struggle, and frustration. To many of your readers, success seems to come easy to a lot of people and they feel that they can’t relate to these people.
Well when it comes to relating to people you definitely want to be on their level to lift them up. It’s like lifting a heavy box. If you don’t bend down and use your legs, you’re liable to throw out your back!
This is why it’s so important to talk about your own struggles, failures, and frustrations. This shows that you’re going through the same obstacles as they are. When you do this, it shows that they’re not alone, everyone goes through this, and they’re still on the right path.
Ask Your Readers Their Experiences
Once you show them that you too are human, you want them to think about the struggles that they’re going through. You want to ask their experiences and how they feel about all the obstacles that keeps getting in their way. This shows how genuinely interested and focus on getting to know your readers.
Tell Your Readers What You Found And Experience
This is where you talk about the strategies, product or services that you found. This debut can be the antidote to their struggles and you want to talk about what experiences you had with it so far. This gives them more confidence in you and what you found to be helpful for you.
Who Needs It And Why
You want to talk to about who will benefit from the strategies, products and services and why it will benefit them. Why is it important for your readers to use these strategies, products or services? This question will get your readers to think back to those obstacles thats hindering them from moving forward and reaching their goals.
What Is It And How It Will Benefit
You want to give them specific names of the strategy, product or service you are promoting and give them a reason why it’ll benefit them. Give them the benefit of what each part of what you’re promoting will be the answer to help alleviate the problems they’re having.
Then Go Into The How To
Now you want to go into how does it work and how do you set it up since you piqued their interests. Here’s two tips you want to include in your content
Step by Step Format – You want to give them a step by step, sequential way of
how to set it up and get it going.
Keyword Power – Within your content you want to use the specific keywords
that describe what you’re promoting so that your content will be easier to find on
