Many network marketers have a “Every Man For Himself” mentality which defeats the purpose of network marketing. This can definitely hinder your business to grow and can actually diminish your reputation. Let’s see how we can flip this around..

“The successful networkers I know, the ones receiving tons of referrals and feeling truly happy about themselves, continually put the other person’s needs ahead of their own.” ~ Bob Burg

Why would you want to put others needs first ahead of your own? If you believe in Karma and really love what you do, then more than likely you’re getting the results that you want. Other than that you’re probably struggling trying to get people to look at what you do.

Whether you’re on facebook or out prospecting, many of you are out trying to make a sale and are more focused on the outcome than the activity itself. How many of you been approached by someone at the mall and yet were turned off by their approach?

Why were you turned off?

Did you feel like they just wanted to make money off of you?

Were they very abrasive with their sales pitch?

Did they seem desperate?

How many of you were approached on social media sites like facebook and linkedIn and the minute you said you, they dropped you like a bad habit? Unfortunately, the majority of network marketers, especially the ones that take their business online, are like this.

Most network marketers feel that their product or services is the solution to everyone problems and if you consider yourself to be intelligent then you will invest your money into their business, product or services. But let’s face it, as many companies with products and services there are in the world, it’s almost impossible to be interested in all of them, let alone if you invested in something you really believe in.

So if every network marketer is not provide real value to others, do you think they’re going to be financially successful anytime soon? So what is real value?

HOW YOU CAN BE MORE VALUABLE TO OTHERS

Can you imagine constantly getting great referrals from others? I mean every week, at least 2 people want to join you in your business or even buy your products or services. How would that make you feel? I bet you would feel on top of the world, huh?

Now the next question is how can you get to that point?

If you believe in karma, do you feel that if you start putting other’s needs ahead of yours that success in growing your business will come back to you?

According to Bob Burg in his book “Endless Referrals”, for every person in business they have about 2000 contacts. Just imagine if just a tenth of their contacts join you in your business venture and 5 of them really build your business. You will definitely be set for life.

This is why networking with other serious business-minded people and putting their needs first is so important. This is a way for you to not only help them, but also a way for them to help you. There are so many network marketing companies out there with some of the greatest services and products out there and not everyone is going to think your opportunity or whatever you’re marketing is the best in the world. So in this case it’s will be beneficial to refer people to what they want as well as it will be great when you get referrals because in the end, it becomes a win/win situation on both parties and the true meaning of network marketing.

So keep in mind to be genuinely interested in other people and really see how you can help them whether they’re interested in what you have or not. I guarantee that in the end you’ll start see that results you want for your business.

Are you stressing yourself about getting numbers from people? Many people are going through so many training and buying so many tools just to get numbers of people who may be interested in getting involved in network marketing. Well lets make it easier and more natural for you…

“Only through our connectedness to others can we really know and enhance the self. And only through working on the self can we begin to enhance our connectedness to others.” ~ Harriet Goldhor Lerner

How do you know when you can really connect with someone? It really depends on what vibe you put out. Have you ever walked into a place and just really like the vibe of it even though you haven’t talked to anyone or knew anyone for that matter?

What causes that attraction? Well I believe depending on what you put out will determine whether you will like the energy of the place. If you’re depressed and worried and you walk into a place where everyone is happy and having a great time, then you’ll probably will not connect with the energy within the place.

When it comes to network marketing, people put out different vibes because of what’s on their mind. Depending on who you’re making an effort to connect with, you may be thinking one thing and the other person may be thinking about someone else. When this happens, it can be difficult to even attempt to get the number from someone to eventually get a customer or business partner.

As a result many people go to online marketing because a lot of us feel that it’s easier to really connect with people. In most cases it is if only you’re vibing well with the other person. Online marketing makes it easier for you to connect with others from around the globe and if you’re able to do business in other countries you can definitely grow your business in these countries.

Although online marketing has made it easier for anyone in this industry to build their businesses, there are a lot of reps who are still having problems with just getting phone numbers. So What vibe are they putting out?

The Opinion Of Ray Higdon

Ray Higdon is one of the top level leaders in this industry of network marketing. He has proven to not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk. If you want to get some great advice on how to build your network, I recommend that you check out his blog.

One of the things that he absolutely believes in is that you can’t build a good solid network marketing home business without the phone. As many online tools there are out there, their true purpose is not only for you to get leads, but to get your leads on the phone and build rapport.

Building rapport is the goal when it comes to network marketing. If you want to get phone numbers from people whether it would be via tools or social media, you want be on the same vibe as they are. And how do you get there?

Asking good, Empowering Open-Ended Questions to really show how interested you are in the person. What’s really empowering and intriguing to them is listening what they have to say and their opinions without disagreeing and giving your opinion, but accepting them.

You want to know their problems, struggles, and why they want to get to their specific goals. Focusing on the person and their problems Brings To You Opportunity to help them. When you don’t do this, the person puts up their guard when you ask for their number. Building a rapport like this can really open a person up to give you their number. A simple statement as “Lets chat about this over the phone. Here’s my number 555-555-555” or “Would you like to chat about this over the phone? Here’s my number 555-555-5555. Text me yours.” can definitely open more great opportunities for you.

Do you find that people treat you like a number on facebook? A lot of us network marketers find that we can be very competitive when it comes to our businesses, but does this competitiveness help us grow our businesses?

“You don’t close a sale, you open a relationship if you want to build a long-term, successful enterprise.” ~ Patricia Fripp

Network marketing is a lucrative way to achieve your goals if you’re using the right approaches to get there. What do you I mean by right approaches? The approaches where you and people in general vibe well with each other.

Anyone who makes an effort to Vibe well with others can definitely expect to create a large income in this industry. The reason being is that you build a strong enough trust with people altogether that success will be inevitable.

But have you notice that most people on facebook treat each other like a number? Those that don’t find the time to really get to know you are usually the ones that are struggling in their businesses. Not only are they treating each other like numbers but they’re teaching people that they sponsor into their business to do the same.

Now we all know that you have to go through a number of people to see who’s serious about doing business with you. Even though you may go through 100’s or even 1000’s of people does not mean you have to treat each one as a number.

With the advent of social media it’s much easier to talk to many people around the world and this is very attractive to all of us network marketers. The problem is that we stop networking and do more convincing people to join us. Can you get very far with this? Not really.

Why Convincing Doesn’t Help You Build Your Business

When you’re trying to prove how great your business is, it really makes you look like a desperate predator instead of a leader. When you’re doing all the talking, the prospect would actually have the upper hand on you. Why? Because you’re trying to prove why working with you and your company would be a great deal.

Does this sound like you’re being interviewed for a job where the interviewer is prospect?

But worse of all, you’re treating each individual you come across on facebook, as well as other social media sites, like a number. You feel like it’s a waste of time to get to know the person if they don’t want to join you or at least help you build your business.

This is selfishness at it’s worst and definitely it becomes stressful for you to grow your business. Being more focused on the money made instead of the people that will provide the money for you to help you grow your business will not only stunt it’s growth but also it starts to diminish your brand.

So how can you turn this around?

What Leaders Do To Grow Their Business

Leaders have a system to where they sort through people to see who deserves their help instead of trying to convince them. In order to do that, they really get to know people, especially on facebook.

In order to become successful via facebook, you want to become a master networker. Be helpful towards others and sharing ideas on how to grow a business. Give people more than what is expected and you’ll actually start to become really attractive. But one thing to remember is to give without forcing your help on others.

If you notice, everyone is a “salesperson” on facebook and yet the majority isn’t NETWORKING. With facebook, it takes time to get to know people and develop a trust since it’s the internet as oppose to face to face marketing.

So if you really want to attract people to you, network with people and if the trust is built, get them on the phone. You’d be surprise how many great people that you’ll meet and if the connection is strong, you’ll have better results when it comes to growing your business. I mean why would you join someone if there is no good connection between you two?

Duplication is the key to building a successful business, but what do you duplicate? Many successful people are busy building their business and inquiry minds want to do what is keeping them busy. How is it that some people can start from scratch and build a successful team, while others can sponsor so many people but yet their team tends to drop out of the business as fast as they get in? Lets go into more detail….

“It is better to have one person working with you than three people working for you.” ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower

When you’re told to step out of your comfort zone and duplicate the process, what does that mean exactly?

I’ve been to many trainings and one of the things that being taught is that in order for you to be successful you got to get uncomfortable. Now many people would take this information and negate from it by focusing on doing nothing but uncomfortable strategies because they believe that’s the only way lead them to the promise land.

Now if you’re uncomfortable with the action, and you happen to sponsor a couple of people and you teach them to do the action where they’re also uncomfortable with, do you think you’re going to build a strong team? Well it’s possible that they will get over being uncomfortable with the action and help build them team, but that’s a very slim chance.

Nowadays we not only can do offline marketing but we also can market on the internet. The fact that we have so many options within the two, we have more choices to pic particular strategies that work and feel comfortable with.

So what does it really mean to get uncomfortable? It’s getting out of a routine that’s not empowering you to reach your goals. So you find something that you’re interested in, and although it may be uncomfortable at first, you develop a liking and even passion for the action in order to get to your destination.

WHAT DOES DUPLICATE?

This depends on what empowering action each member of your team may like. People are going to do well in strategies they feel that resonates with them.

There are people on my team that prefer going up to strangers in public areas, and there are other’s that like to use passive marketing such as using newspaper ads, bandit signs, or even using facebook PPC.

Either way it goes you’re getting someone’s information in order to present them with what you have. This is actually the easy part of network marketing.

The hard part is actually presenting them with what you have since the average person has fear of rejection. If this fear gets the best of you and the people in your team, then obviously you’re not going to get the outcome you want.

This is the fear that tends to builds up because a lot of us feel we need to be in a hurry to get as many people in our business before a certain date. When this happens, a lot of us tend to go into “selling” mode and treat people as a number. We develop a tendacy to TELL what’s best for them and that they need our help in order to be successful so they can get out of their JOB. We may think we’re helping them, but in actuality we look like a Salesperson trying to make a quick buck.

WHAT TO FOCUS ON AFTER GETTING THEIR INFO.

If you want to really get each person on your team to duplicate, teach them to focus on people. Since this is network marketing teach them to really get to know people and to have great dialogue with them. To do this, teach them to ASK empowering questions, LISTEN to what the prospect has to say, and give FEEDBACK in order to make sure their prospects know that they UNDERSTOOD them.

A lot people believe that if you’re doing all the talking then you’re in power which is false. If you’re doing all the talking it’s almost you’re trying to prove something or trying to make every effort to impress them. In this case, does this really sound like you have the upper-hand?

When you’re asking empowering questions, you’re actually getting them to impress you and at the same time they’re convincing themselves with their own words to maybe look at what you have for them. As you listen to them you’re qualifying them to see if they’re someone you want to work with or not.

When you use this approach and just have the mentality of really trying to get to know people, the fear of rejection starts to alleviate whether they join you or not and the prospect will feel like you’re not trying to sell them anything but actually trying to help them solve their problem.

Have you heard the saying, it’s not what you know, its who you know? Well I like to take it further. It’s about how well you know them. So lets go more into detail….

“Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” ~ Stephen R. Covey

Do you have thousands of friends on facebook but have yet to sponsor any of them? There are a lot of network marketers on facebook and other social media sites that have all of these thousands of friends but either only sponsored one or none at all.

This not only applies to facebook, but also all the people that opt into your site or just the many people that you may have approached offline. 9 times out of 10 you’re probably wondering why you’re not sponsoring as well as some others that can sponsor 5 people or more a month.

There’s this saying “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”. A lot of us can agree to this, but how true is this old cliche? If you’re not sponsoring anyone, but yet other’s in the same business, as well as different business, are sponsoring a lot of people each month, this there’s something more to this cliche.

A good friend of mine, Ron Simpliefied Myers, added something to this cliche: “You may not be able to lead a horse to water but you can put salt in his oats and make him thirsty.!” When you think about it, this is definitely a paradigm shift when it comes to prospecting.

If you talk to many people, you notice that although many people are comfortable and have the accepted the way their lives are currently, they really want a change to happen. Now we can tell them what they need to do, but does the average people really get going after you made your suggestion? The majority of the time, no.

What what do the average person want?

The Indirect Approach To Sponsoring

In general people purchase or invest in anything via emotion. People want whatever they’re purchasing to give them a certain feeling. It can be the feeling of security, confidence, importantance, or maybe even freedom. How will you know this if you don’t know your people?

Many of you can get leads upon leads and have many friends on the social media sites, but can you tell me how well you know these people? Are they people or just another number?

What you’ll notice is that people in general, including myself, really want to be UNDERSTOOD. When you make an effort to understand people, you really build a stronger connection with them.

How do you feel when people put a lot of their energy to understand you? When this is done, you create a pathway to the source of your current problems. Check out the post Focusing On The Problem Brings Opportunity

When it comes to understanding people you usually make what they have to say very important whether you agree with them or not. Once they get that feeling, You’ll notice that they will open up to any suggestions, especially anything that will help them.

Instead of FORCING YOUR HELP on them like the majority does, it’s best to see if they are really looking for help. You do this by asking them empowering questions that will help them look inside themselves. As Galileo put it “You can not teach a man anything; you can help him discover it within himself.”

Are you someone that goes out of their way to help people, or someone that runs over people to get what you want? The word “selfish” has been deemed to be something negative, but yet is it possible that it can help propel you to your success? There’s a balance to figure out because selfishness can either make you or break you.

“You can never truly love anyone else until you love yourself. Until you really love yourself, your love for others is purely selfish. It is an attempt to fulfill the missing part of you with whatever you enjoy about them.

Therefore, I cannot trust others who don’t love themselves to truly have my best interests at heart.”

~Danielle Marie Crume

Do you really love the network marketing industry? What do you love about it?

It’s definitely true that this industry can help propel you financially, getting to the point to wherever you get, you attract people, hence you attract money. Also at the same time you become a better person because of all of the personal development.

There are a lot of us that put in a lot of effort to build our businesses and we build it by any means necessary. But can building it by any means necessary really make us or break us?

Have you been ever taught the 3 foot rule? If you don’t know it, it means talking to anyone 3 feet from us about our business. But does it really work? How would you feel if some complete stranger walked up to you just to tell you to check out their business, and according to them, why you should join? You would probably think they were a selfish, sleezy person involved in some type of scheme so that they can make money of you, right?

So why don’t we add the word “connection” and call it the 3 foot connection rule. Instead of just talking to people about your business thats standing or sitting 3 feet away from you, why not just connect with them without focusing on how you’re going to get them into your business?

Many people may look at this and say this will take too much time and it’s a waste of energy. But do you want to come off as a fast talking salesman or build a great reputation attracting people looking for an opportunity?

So where does the selfishness comes in? It depends on how you look at it…

Selfishness: The Negative and The Positive

As human beings, we definitely have some selfish aspects about us. There’s always some type of want or need that we make the effort to fulfill. It could be from attention or getting that top position at your job. We are always trying to fill in the holes.

One thing you notice when talking with people, the average person want to be the “center of attention”. Don’t you just hate those type of people? They just sit there and talk about themselves constantly, boring you out of your mind.

You may be thinking how selfish of them to just go on and on about themselves. Well, as you know, that’s one way to repel people, especially if you talk about your opportunity like that.

Now that’s the negative side of selfishness, so what’s the positive?

You ever just have a need to meet more people? Not just meeting them, but really wanting to get to know them. You ever met someone, and they talk on and on about themselves, stopped because they felt like they already talked too much and want to find out more about you. That feels good when they want to find more about you too, doesn’t it? Now to some degree, would you say that both of you were selfish in wanting to get to know each other? You would be filling a need, right?

Now imagine having the same approach with a target market of people that may have an interest in starting a home business. You come with no agenda to convince them to join your business, but rather be genuinely interested in them. Once the connection and rapport is there, the feeling of rejection tends to not come into play whether they join your business or not.

With this “positive selfish” approach you really become welcoming, very approachable and easy to talk to. So I let you be the judge: Would a person like this be someone you want to work with to obtain your goals?

Change the energy to have a deep dialogue.

“Stop selling. Start helping.”- Zig Ziglar

To see if there is a sale to be made will make the opportunity to sell more possible. The fact that you’re taking the time to find out the needs of someone will build the trust within them.

As in my previous posts as well as from other posts from others, making the effort to get to know your prospects will without a doubt build trust. Once you build this strong connection it makes it easier for you to expose what you do and your prospect will have a strong reason why they would want to look at the information about your business.

The goal in any exposure is to get the prospect to sell themselves to you so that you’re not wasting each other’s time. But how many of us network marketers ever get to that point?

How many of you feel that you end up having to prove yourself to people and show that what you do will be their yellow brick road to success?
When you think of salesman, what comes to mind? Is it the fast-talking sleezy greedy salesman thats out to take advantage of everyone or is it the person that’s making an effort to really help everyone looking for a solution?

With that in mind, how do you think people look at you when you approach them with any opportunity that your involved in?
If people have a negative vibe coming from you and have their guards up, then are you really focusing on their PROBLEMS or just the SYMPTOMS?

Many of you have ran into people that are tired of their jobs, failing in their businesses, ran out of people to talk to, not getting enough leads, and so on and so forth. There’s a common denominator between all of these different symptoms. Where there are facts there are hidden truths that have yet to be dug up.

WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS?

The problems are the cause of the symptoms. Even though people may complain about what they don’t have, although they may want they’ve been lacking, this doesn’t solve the problem.

We all heard of people who are wealthy but yet are miserable. Although they may have the biggest homes, most expensive cars, and eat the most expensive foods, none of this will resolve why they feel the way they do.

The key is how they FEEL. When it comes to your prospects, instead of looking at the symptoms and providing the solutions, why not go deeper, figure how they feel at the moment about the lack of what they have and why they feel this way. When you do this, you open them up, and you open up a good trusting relationship with them.

When you can do this, your prospects will be a lot more open to any of your suggestions, hence any opportunities that will HELP them resolve their issues. And if they’re really serious about making a change, then more than than likely they will be in your business for the long run.

There are the external wants, but what about our internal needs? When talking to people about our business we’re so focus on sponsoring them by telling them about the features of what our business has to offer in order to get them in. We all want more money, the vacations, nice expensive cars and so on, but does that really convince us? Lets dig deeper…

“The windows of my soul are made of one-way glass, don’t bother looking into my eyes if there’s something you want to know, just ask” ~ Ani Difranco

Why did you get involved in network marketing?

Whatever answers you come up with, ask yourself if it was an external want or an internal need? What’s the difference between the two? Lets check out the average approach first.

When you approach people do you only talk about the features of what your business will offer them and because of that should be the reason why they should join? If you’re talking about spending time with family, traveling more, leverage income, residual income, etc.., but they don’t join you after you tell them, then what do you think is the problem?

So many of us are so focused on sponsoring and using these features to “convince” them to join, not realizing that they probably heard the same line over and over and over again. In your prospects mind, you’re probably just out to make money off of them instead of really taking the time to get to know them and get to the source of their problems.

Let’s just say for example that you’re talking to a guy name Joe. You ask joe what he does for a living. He tells you. Then you ask him if he could describe his tasks. He does to the best of his ability. Then you ask him if he likes his job. He tells you so so. Then you ask what would he rather be doing. He says he wants to do something else like start a business so he can travel and do whatever he wants.

That’s when you expose him to your business right?

Do they really become interested in your business? Not really, huh?

They tell you their external wants, you expose them, but yet they don’t join your business venture.

So what can we do to really improve our approach?

One thing is for sure is that people in general love to have bragging rights. So common sense would tell you that your prospects would love to talk more about themselves and you should get them to do so right? Check out the blog post HOW TO GET PROSPECTS TO ELABORATE.

Getting them to elaborate about themselves will develop a strong like and trust in you. Once you get them to elaborate more and more about themselves, something magical happens. The connection really gets strong and also instead of you trying to convince them to look at your opportunity, they will actually start to convince themselves.

There’s a quote by Galileo that goes great with this post: “You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him to find it within himself”

With the right questions they will go from their External Wants, to the meaning behind them which will be their Internal Needs.

FROM EXTERNAL WANTS TO INTERNAL NEEDS

Do you believe that everything we see, hear, taste in life has some type of spiritual or energetic backing? This is something that it’s not talked about often, but there’s a truth behind it.

For example, why do you feel you can connect a lot better with some people as oppose to other people?

Or have you ever know what the other person is going to say before they say it even though the both of you just met for the first time?

When things like this happen, there’s a vibration going on. So how does this apply to your approach? Well going back to Joe, you found out the first truth which was the external want. Now if you dig deeper into why he wants it and how he would feel about it, then you’re getting into the internal needs factor which is the second truth.

So would you agree that if you get your prospects to elaborate on his internal needs that you will be much more well connected with them as well as them to you? Getting deep in the conversation where Joe shares his feelings on why he want to travel to certain places and be financially free can definitely be a trigger that there’s a lot of trust that was built, wouldn’t you agree?

I know that a lot of us been taught to go through the numbers and get as many no’s, but we all do feel well connected with other’s who take the time to really get to know us, our wants, desires, and so forth. It’s not too often that people take the time to really get to know us, so why not do that with your prospects?

If given the opportunity, many of us affiliate/network marketers love bragging about our opportunities. As soon as someone says they want to make more money, we jump in and talk about our business and tell them it’s right for them. But for some apparently reason the majority of these people tend not to join us. You ever wonder why? Lets find out what problem is and get the solution.

“Nobody counts the number of ads you run; they just remember the impression you make.” ~ William Bernbach

How would you feel if you can sponsor 6 out of 10 people a month into your business? You probably feel powerful and unstoppable, right?

So why is it possible for some and not for others?

You may have talk to a lot of prospects either over the phone or out in public but yet you don’t bring anyone on your team.

You find out that they don’t like their job and want to make more money. Whenever you tell them about your opportunity, you feel a resistance coming from them.

You read all the books and been to so many seminars on how to CLOSE people but for some reason these strategies just doesn’t work for you. As a matter of fact you may see other people having success with those techniques except for you.

So you ask yourself “What am I missing?”

You got all the info. from the prospect, at least you thought you did, but yet nothing is clicking. You feel like you’re doing all the right steps to CLOSE your prospects but yet you flop all the time.

You ever thought about doing the opposite?
What do I mean by opposite?
Well instead of focusing on closing, what about focusing on OPENING your prospects?

In the industry of network marketing we are taught that this business is about building relationships with people. So given that, when you yourself connect with someone, and I mean really connect, how do you feel? You probably feel like you can tell them pretty much anything right? You open up well with them because you like the vibe that their putting out.

Well one thing’s for sure, if you were to OPEN people, more than likely they would be really interested in you and what you have to offer them. So what can we do to have people open up to us?

3 SIMPLE THINGS TO KNOW TO OPEN PROSPECTS

Have you ever been to a social gathering and the person you were talking with was boring you out of your mind? All they talk about was themselves the whole entire night. They didn’t leave room for you to talk. The funny thing is that, these are the same people that usually want to hang out with you later. Why is that?

Let me ask you this. Do you do the same thing with your prospects when it comes to your opportunity? You may be trying to “steer” them in the “right” direction but yet their not trying to go that route.

No matter how hard you try to have them see it your way, they just don’t budge, they become resistant and even distant.

One thing you find out in this business is that people really don’t care about what you think or your opinion. They only care about themselves, what they think, and their own opinions. So what is a great way to really connect with your prospects? Why not give them bragging rights? There’s three things you can do to create a great connection:

Question
Listen
Feedback

So if people question you in a way that you believe that they’re genuinely interested you and how you think, do you become fond of them? So why not do the same with your prospects. It’s best to ask OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS to really show interest in your prospects and to get them to really think. Dig deep with your questions to see how they FEEL about the answers they already given you. There are always more truths.

Active LISTENING is very important because nobody wants to be ignored. So how do they know if you’re really listening? By the FEEDBACK you give them from each of their answers. Making sure that you understand them by repeating back to them in your own words what they just said will definitely show that you are truly listening to them and showing that what they have to say is important to you.

When you focus on these three things you plant seeds with your questions, and you start to draw curiosity from your prospects by your active listening and feedback. Focusing on the action of opening, instead of the outcome of closing, will build a lot of trust from your prospects and will eventually get more of the results you want.

Some of these beliefs can be a reason why we hold ourselves back from living the life that we want. What can we do about this?

“I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief.” ~ Gerry Spence

Since we were kids a lot of us have been given these different beliefs to help guide us through life. These beliefs helped us shape who we are as adults and those of us that have children, we have passed down these beliefs to them.

Some of these beliefs actually fueled us to reach our goals and achieved what we have dreamed of for a long time, while others have been detrimental to our growth. It’s a wonder how these different beliefs came about.

It could’ve been through the experiences of our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, acquaintances, and even ourselves. Whatever the case may be, a lot of the ones we consider to be facts are on the contrary nothing but other people’s opinions.

Have you ever wonder how the superstition of opening up an umbrella in the house brings bad luck came from? Does this really bring bad luck? Is this fact or opinion?

Sometimes you have to question superstitions like this. As a matter of fact as a kid I opened this umbrella a couple of times and nothing “bad” ever happened to me. I pissed off my mother, but hey, I wanted to see if it was true.

LETS GO BACK TO WHEN WE WERE KIDS

As kids we wanted to go out and explore what life had to offer to us whether those experiences would be something considered positive or negative. We didn’t distinguish whether something was good or bad, but saw it as it was although society would label us as being innocent and naïve.

Although we wanted to go out and explore, we had parents or guardians who would let us know whether it was ok to do so. From this point, our belief system started to evolve.

From that point on we become more and more hesitant towards life. Depending on the belief system we have we took the opportunities according to what society says instead of relying how we truly feel. We see people that “made it” and we convince ourselves that it would probably never happen to us.

But what if we saw these different inspirations, negate the positive and negatives, the pros and cons, and saw it as it really was like we did as kids. Do you believe that it would be easier to obtain those things that we desire despite all the obstacles that may get in the way? Would those obstacles still be considered obstacles? Do you believe that instead of being fearful, we would be more curious about what’s ahead of us?

I do believe what we consider to be “positive” is when we look at things for what it is instead of using the pros and cons to make distinctions of it. It’s almost as if we can look at each other as human beings, instead making racial, political, or ethnic distinctions.

HOW TO APPLY THIS TO YOUR MLM/NETWORK MARKETING BUSINESS

There’s a great majority of us that has this fear of approaching people in general about our business. It doesn’t matter if they are friends, family, strangers, people that opt in, or even people that call us about what we do, a lot of us develop this fear, almost as if they’re already going to reject us.

For example, we all heard that network marketing is a “pyramid” and nobody can become successful unless you’re at the top or get in early. How true are these statements? Are these facts or other people’s opinions? Who are these people that make these types of statements?

You may want to ask “How many businesses do you know of that do not have a pyramid structure have people working under the CEO, and depending on what level you are, the closer you are to the CEO the more you get paid?” There aren’t too many if there are any at all.

In this case, the opinion is that pyramids only apply to the network marketing business model, but the fact is pyramids can apply to just about any business.

Can you be successful? If you’re looking at network marketing as a type of business model instead of pyramid or a traditional business, then it’s much more possible and a lot faster.

When you’re looking at MLM/Network Marketing like this, just like a child, you may want to look at a pyramid for what it is instead of labeling it as MLM. A lot of our peers tend to interchange opinions for facts without really looking at it for what it really is. In this case, MLM/Network Marketing is a business model, not just a pyramid. Now if a child were to look at a job and the business structure, with the business structure of network marketing, do you believe they can tell the difference?

Asking questions like these can definitely evaporate the fear of rejection. If you believe in the business model and you ask these types of questions to evaporate the fears you may have, then your attitude towards what you do will adjust accordingly. What you’ll find out is what you deemed as facts are really just other people’s opinions.

What do you think about this? I like some feedback.
