If one of your strategies to build your home business is using Social Media, then you definitely want to create a great presence. There are ways to attract your target market and there are ways to repel them. Let’s see how you can improve your presence on social media to help propel your business….
As long as I have been using social media as a strategy, I notice from myself and from looking from afar at what attracts and what repels people. Many of you have notice how some people can get a lot of likes and comments, versus those that don’t really get any at all. Maybe you, yourself are looking for ways to improve your presence.
So why is it that some people can get a lot of responses while others don’t?
From my observation, I compare this to the corporate world of 40 hours/week jobs in having a great boss versus not having a not so great boss. Why is it that some people love their boss’ versus others that are more indifferent towards them?
From what I notice of having past jobs and talking to other people, the boss that everyone loves are more transparent and personal. They make sure the job is done, but yet they’re not all about their job and their positions. They actually show that there is another side of them outside of work.
Although I’ve never hung out with any of my past bosses, some of my friends actually would go out on the weekend with their boss. I’ve actually met a couple of my friends boss’ and it was a bit strange to me at first, but afterwards I got use to it and they didn’t seem like the stereotypical “slave driving” boss. They were more like the rest of us.
They really had a tight connection, and when either one of them were to get transfer or leave the company then it was much more of a sad occasion. My friends would worry about how the next person was going to be. Sometimes they were just as great, while other times they weren’t. But the fact of the matter was that my friends connected well with their boss’ because they were more personal with them.
The fact of the matter is we are all leaders in our own right. As entrepreneurs we want to be the “bridge” to fulfill the needs of our peers. And at the same time we want to be able to attract the right people to us and keep a strong connection with them. From my point of view, I see being more personal online can help achieve this. Here are five ways you show your online social media peers the other side of you:
Post Valuable Quotes
This may not seem personal, but if you like valuable quote the way I do, then why not post them on social media? Posting quotes shows a bit of your character and gives you a great reputation. These may be something that can help any of your peers that may be going through something.
Post Pictures Of You Enjoying Yourself
If people see that you’re enjoying yourself doing specific activity, then it makes you look attractive. Whether it be you on vacation, at a musical event, festivals, or where ever, you want to be able to show that you know how to have a great time. Why would you want to do business with people who are always serious? I know most people don’t!
Post Your Valuable Blog Posts And Others’
Blogging may not seem like it’s personal, but I consider it as an online diary. This is where you can show your online peers your own voice by writing or making videos. Also when you share other bloggers posts, then it shows how much you value the success of your peers and the bloggers themselves.
Leave Comments On What Your Peers Post
When it comes to social media, you also want to start building a community. A great way to start this is leaving comments on what your social media peers posts. This shows that you’re actually paying attention to what they have to say which is why people get on social media. Engagement is everything, and if you want to improve your presence, then this is a great start.
Talk About Something Outside Of Your Home Business
Humans connect with humans. Period! We are all not about home business because we have other things going on in our daily lives. If you notice, there are people that like to talk about their other interests like politics, share recipes, their workouts, family reunions, hiking trips, and the list goes on and on. People in general can relate to these subjects and this is how you can draw more attention to yourself. So why not put it out there J
The goal is to become a strong magnet to your target market. You can put all types of value out their for your target market, but I believe if you want to build a stronger connection with them, then get personal. Give them some other reason why they want to connect with you. This will definitely carry you further on Social Media!
Now It’s Your Turn!
