If you want to get traffic, you want to make sure that your blog content is valuable to your niche market. Content Marketing is where it’s at now, but what if you’re not getting your content shared by your readers? In the following post I’m going to share 5 reasons why your content isn’t being shared by your readers…
When it comes to your blog content, you want to be able to be personable, funny, approachable, conversational, and lead with a lot of value. When it comes to blogging you want to use it as a magnet. A magnet to attract the people thats going to be the most interested in your blog content.
You are the product when it comes to marketing your content. Its like going fishing. If you want to catch the fish, you have to be a great fisherman first off. You have to know what bait to use for certain types of fish. Once you hook the bait, and cast it out in the wait, you have to know when the fish is nibbling in order for you to catch them.
Now this may not be the best example, but hopefully you get the point.
But what if you’re the best writer in the world and yet your content isn’t getting shared?
Have you ever notice other blogs that seem horrible when it comes to writing, but yet they’re getting shared a lot? If you’re the greatest writer in the world, you definitely will become jealous of this. But whether you’re the greatest, or the worst, there is a patter that each successful blogger follows in order to get that high amount of shares.
Like I said before, if you’re the greatest or the worst, there’s something that other bloggers whether they’re great or horrible are doing. There’s some missing ingredients that you’re not doing or you don’t have that’s hindering your blogging success. Let’s look at five of those ingredients:
You Don’t Have No Share Buttons
Surprisingly, I’ve ran into a lot of blogs that don’t have share buttons. They’re content was off the chain, but there were no share button to share what I learned. Luckily for the authors, I found their blog content so amazing, I actually copied and pasted their content on different social media and bookmarking sites.
But will most bloggers do that? Sorry to say, no, not really. If they’re really serious about blogging, they probably have many blogs they want to read, so why would they waste their time copying and pasting a blog on different sites, where they can read another blog thats just as valuable and have share buttons? All I’m saying to be on the safe side, if you have a blog make sure you have share buttons.
You’re Not Providing Valuable Content
Sell, sell, sell. I’ve came across a lot of blogs where all they do is talk about their company, products, services and affiliate programs. If you’re doing this non stop, more than likely you’re not having a lot of success. And if you’re team members are sharing this type of content, more than likely, you’re still not having success.
One thing you have to understand about blogging is that you use blogs for personal branding. If you want to brand yourself well, you want to share valuable content. What do I mean by valuable content. You want to share the type of content that’s going to help your readers to excel. If you’re looking out for your readers, then you’ll give them good enough reason to share your content.
Now if you want to just talk about your offers, then I suggest that you take advantage of other types of marketing strategies like paid advertisement such as solo ads or pay per click.
You’re In The Wrong Niche
Here’s a really big one. If you’re blogging about health and wellness, but yet you’re promoting it to Financial Groups on facebook, then more than like you’re not going to get your content shared. If anything, you want to share your posts in groups related to your niche. It actually took me a while to figure this out, but once I did, I started to become more successful.
You Don’t Ask Your Readers To Share Your Content
Now this may seem minor to most people, but it’s also vital to your blog success. Some of your readers are not like me when they read a great blog post. They’ll just read it and move on to the next blog post. Reminding your readers to share your content isn’t extraneous and it doesn’t make you look desperate either.
Your Share Buttons Are Difficult To Find
I’ve ran into this problem many of times. These type of bloggers seem like their hiding their share buttons so that their readers don’t share their content. They happen to be in odd places. One thing you’ll notice when you look at successful blogs, the share button are usually at the beginning of the content, on the left side, or just below the content. Make it easier on your readers and place those share buttons where they’re normally seen.
