If you’re not building trust then you’re not building a following
“When people honor each other, there is a trust established that leads to synergy, interdependence, and deep respect. Both parties make decisions and choices based on what is right, what is best, what is valued most highly.” –Blaine Lee
If you are BUILDING TRUST with your target market then you will see more positive results.
This is a part of the 4 C’s OF NETWORK MARKETING.
The majority of us in this industry feel that cultivating a relationship which results in building trust in your prospects takes too much time. We want to get to the nitty gritty and sign everyone up to our opportunity.
The one thing the majority of us forget is that we signed up under someone we already had a trusting relationship with.
There are exceptions, but very few.
So building trust can definitely help in sponsoring prospects and having customers.
In my last post I asked the question Who will you join?. It distinguished those that tell you how great their opportunity is from those that ask you how they can help you reach your goals. When you ASK instead of TELL this fuels building trust with people that want to make a change in their lives.
A lot of us marketers have just posted links to our opportunity thinking that we may not get everyone, but we will get the handful of few people that will help get our business going.
99.9% of the time this isn’t the case for the fact that it’s not building trust.
If it is, then usually prospects will sign up under some successful leader that they researched on google, bing, or yahoo for that same opportunity you promoted.
Do you feel that these leaders should have a heart and place these prospects under you since you did all the promoting?
If this is the case, then you should get paid the big bucks at your job instead of the owner since you do all the hard work, right?
Isn’t one of the reasons why you started a business is because you believe you are more valuable than what you get paid at your job and you want to enjoy the freedom so many people talk about?
So why not starting building trust with your target market?
If you look someone up and you can relate to their story, aren’t they building trust with you? You are more likely to contact them in some way or maybe even invest in a product or service they’re marketing, right?
It’s amazing how many people I see doing online marketing but yet they have more lines of links to their opportunities than the lines under their “About Me” section on their profile.
This is the teaching and helping business, and from my experience it’s pretty difficult to teach and help others if they don’t trust you.
So lets be more considerate and focus people. Let people see who you are and know your story, your struggles, your why because once they research you and see that you are like them in many ways, this will start the process of building trust and you’ll start to see better results.

Hi Sherman,
You “hit the nail on the head” here. People will do business and buy products from people they know, like, and TRUST! Simple as that…

Hey Sherman thanks for this excellent post, not been for a while always good to read your stuff. Yep trust is one of the most important things on line or off line for that matter. As we progress in our business the competition will fall away as we build trust and form relationships. A good case study is Oliver Tausend I have never met the man I have spoke to him once however I feel that I can trust him.
Sherman thanks for the post please keep coming back to the group and posting this awesome content.
PS can you tell your friends about the group cheers Graham
